Description
Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' certainly lives up to its name, producing masses of clear, vivid pink flowers that bring a cheerful lift to borders, pots and mixed containers. These garden pinks are repeat flowering, offering a long display of fragrant blooms from spring into autumn, which is very considerate behaviour from such a compact plant. Reaching around 20cm high and 25cm wide, Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' forms a neat, floriferous mound that slips easily into sunny spots, whether gathered at the front of a perennial border or brightening a balcony planter.
After extensive garden trials, Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' has proved itself a particularly strong performer, flowering freely and keeping its composure through the season. Plant Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' in full sun, in alkaline, well-drained soil, and it will reward you with colour, scent and very little fuss. Hardy to around -25°C, it is as dependable as it is pretty, which is not always the case with plants that look this joyful. Use Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' for mass planting, container displays or edging, where its bright flowers can make the whole scheme feel freshly polished.

Useful information
-
Soak the Dianthus 'Vivid Bright Light' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Garden pinks" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost within a week of delivery and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
