Unpack bare roots or rhizomes on arrival and plant them within a week. Until then, keep them somewhere cool and ensure the roots remain slightly moist, never wet.

Delphinium
'Flamenco'
larkspur
Delphinium 'Flamenco' is every bit as dramatic as its name suggests, though instead of fiery reds, it prefers to dance in a costume of dusky pink and cream. Rising above a neat mound of finely cut green leaves, its strong flower spikes carry frilled double blooms that look as though they’ve been carefully ruffled for maximum flair. The effect is soft yet showy, blending vintage charm with an unmistakably bold presence in early summer. Like a flamenco dancer’s skirt caught mid-swish, each flower of Delphinium 'Flamenco' has a movement all of its own, and together they create a rhythm of colour that feels almost choreographed.
Delphinium 'Flamenco' brings structure and romance in equal measure. Its dusky pink petals soften the garden palette while the creamy highlights keep things lively, preventing the display from becoming too heavy or flat. Whether placed towards the back of a border where its spikes can tower over companion plants, or tucked into a smaller space where it can stand alone, larkspur 'Flamenco' always earns a second glance. Indoors, its long stems and intricate blossoms are equally captivating in arrangements, lending height and a whisper of old-world drama. With Delphinium 'Flamenco', your summer garden gains not just flowers, but a performance worth applauding.

Remove the packaging straight away, check the compost and water thoroughly if dry. Check the plant’s hardiness before placing it outdoors. Plant into a border or permanent container within a month, choosing the position recommended for the variety. Keep the top of the root ball level with the surrounding soil, firm gently and water well.
Soak the roots in water for three to six hours immediately before planting. Keep any crown, buds or emerging shoots above the water where possible.
Pot most bare roots into 15–20cm pots filled with peat-free multipurpose compost. Large or depth-sensitive roots, including peonies, are often best planted directly into borders.
Arrange the roots naturally without bending them. Cover the roots completely, positioning the crown and buds at the depth recommended for that particular perennial.
Keep pots in a sheltered outdoor position and water whenever the compost begins to dry. Grow on until roots hold the compost together when lifted from the pot.
Plant into a suitable border or permanent container once well rooted. Add a label and water regularly throughout the first growing season while the perennial establishes.
