'Montbretia Mix'

montbretia

Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix', more commonly known as montbretia, is a bold, reliable perennial that brings rhythm and warmth to the summer garden. Though native to South Africa, Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix' has long since proved its worth in UK borders, earning a reputation for strength, colour and consistency. Upright fans of fresh green foliage send up elegant, arching stems topped with fiery flowers in shades of red, orange and gold. The effect is lively yet structured, which explains why Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix' is so widely favoured by landscapers and designers. Flowering generously through mid to late summer, it offers colour when many borders begin to pause, with blooms that hold well both on the plant and in a vase.

Exceptionally easy to grow, Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix' copes well with most soils and thrives in sun or light shade, making it an ideal choice for gardeners of all experience levels. Once established, Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix' returns reliably each year, forming generous clumps that can be left to naturalise or lifted and divided as needed. The flowers are rich in nectar and highly attractive to bees, adding movement and life to the garden. If choosing feels impossible, Crocosmia 'Montbretia Mix' offers the best of all worlds, blending classic montbretia colours into one confident, easy-going mixture.

Crocosmia are hardy perennials and flower every year once established. After planting, they will flower from their second year onwards. In the first year they may produce foliage only.
