Description
The bright funnel-like flowers of the Crocosmia (syn. montbretia) 'Mistral' will put a little fire into your summer garden when it puts its multiple blooms on show. A tall upright plant which reaches a height of around 70 cm (or about 2,5 ft) tall, it is hardy, easy to grow, perennial and blooms between July and September. The flowers are born on curving racimes which lift the individual blooms from the long stem and separate the cluster of flowers into a mass of separate small delights.
Crocosmia 'Mistral' features bright orange red flowers which open up from a yellowish throat. Mistral would look good planted with other flowering grasses.
* Crocosmia are hardy perennials and flower every year once established. After planting, they will flower from their second year onwards. In the first year they may produce foliage only.
