Description
Whether soft pink slinks through your colour palette or you enjoy the charmingly informal cottage garden style inclusive of the full colour spectrum, Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Flamingo' provides a generous offering delicate blooms through the summer season and into autumn. Just like its close relative Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocamocha' (Chocolate Cosmos), you can enjoy the gentle floatiness of a breezy cosmos display but on a perennial and more resilient plant. When these cosmos are happy in their spot, they will return year after year to put on a show that establishes and improves each time. You can plant both Cosmos varieties together for a pleasing colour contrast, or combine Cosmos 'Flamingo' with other summer plant companions like dahlias.
Each Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Flamingo' bare root will grow into a plant which produces a profusion of flowers. They're not entirely hardy, but if you protect with a mulch over the winter months, you should enjoy a repeat show of flamboyance from your 'Flamingos' the next year! Nip off the spent flowers as they fade through the season to encourage them to keep blooming into autumn.
