Colocasia esculenta

elephant ears

Get in on the hype of tropical greenery with lush and leafy Colocasia esculenta, also known as Taro or Elephant Ears. This fantastic, architectural plant is big and impressive in every way, eventually reaching a size of up to 1.5m and producing a mass of amazing emerald green arrow-shaped leaves each up to 60cm long! Despite its popularity as a house plant, tender Colocasia esculenta can be grown outside during the summer months.

A natural shade dweller, it provides a trendy, tropical touch to any dull corner and looks gorgeous growing in a shady, enclosed or urban garden. If you’re into indoor gardening, freshen up your living space by growing this gutsy, air-purifying tropical gem in your home. Once the weather warms up, pop your Elephant Ears outside to liven up a shady corner of the patio or balcony.

Our colocasia bulbs are grown and cultivated in Costa Rica.
