Description
Centranthus 'Rosenrot', commonly known as red valerian, is a bold and vibrant perennial that brings a pop of colour to any garden. With its striking greyish-green leaves providing a subtle backdrop, this variety bursts into life with sprays of pink-red flowers that seem to glow in the sun. Reaching around 60cm in height, Centranthus 'Rosenrot' is perfect for adding a splash of colour to borders, coastal gardens, or even wall crevices where its airy flowers can shine. The plant’s natural, slightly wild appearance makes it an excellent choice for informal gardens, where it can happily self-seed and spread its charm.
What makes Centranthus ruber 'Rosenrot' truly special is its resilience and ease of care. Thriving in poor, well-drained soils, it’s ideal for those dry, sunny spots that often leave gardeners scratching their heads. Centranthus 'Rosenrot' will happily endure neglect, providing a colourful display from late spring through to summer without any fuss. This low-maintenance beauty is perfect for adding a carefree, naturalistic feel to your garden, especially in rockeries or along paths. If you're looking for a hardy, vibrant plant with a bit of character, Centranthus 'Rosenrot' is sure to steal the show with its dazzling pink-red blooms year after year.
Our Centranthus 'Rosenrot' plants are supplied as a root ball with healthy growth, ensuring a strong start. They are carefully shipped in our unique cardboard box, designed to keep them safe and in top condition. This ensures they arrive healthy and ready to thrive in their new home.

Useful information
-
Soak your Centranthus 'Rosenrot' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Red valerian" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
