Description
Few colours suggest rich and luxurious more than purple, and if you grow Campanula 'Superba', your garden will be given the feel of real opulence and luxury. Dense flower heads of large, bell-shaped, rich purple-blue flowers appear from May to September on tall stems that rise above rosettes of fresh, green, heart-shaped leaves. This beautiful campanula—one of the stunning clustered bellflowers—is perfect for a border in full sun or partial shade. A cottage garden favourite, it looks just at home, however, in modern or contemporary planting schemes. For best results, plant your Campanula 'Superba' bare roots in moist but well-drained fertile soil.
With such a long flowering period, and the spreading habit and foliage enabling the plant to offer weed-suppressing ground cover throughout summer, Campanula glomerata 'Superba' is hard to beat. In fact, with its reliability, consistency of colour, and good resistance to pests and diseases, this campanula is considered such a good plant, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) have awarded it a coveted Award of Garden Merit.

Useful information
-
Soak the Campanula 'Superba' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Bellflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
