Description
Campanula 'Caroline' is an exciting, and relatively new variety. Its common name is clustered bellflower, which is exactly what it is – a slowly-spreading perennial, with upright, dense, clustered heads of tiny, lilac, bell-shaped flowers. The colouring fades in time to pink, then white. These flowers are set in perfect contrast to the fresh, almost olive-green leaves. Campanula glomerata 'Caroline' is the perfect plant for growing as ground cover in a sunny or partly shaded border. Like all forms of campanula, its blooms are nectar- and pollen-rich, so are loved by bees, butterflies/moths and other pollinators!
It’s a slow-grower, best planted and then left to slowly spread. It likes a moist but well-drained soil. Divide congested clumps in spring or autumn. In fact, this hardy perennial campanula is so highly regarded by experts, that the Royal Horticultural Society has given it the coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Useful information
-
Soak the Campanula 'Caroline' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Bellflower" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
