Calla
'Captain Murano'
zantedeschia
Calla 'Captain Murano' blooms are a luscious combination of soft orange and a salmon-tinged red, these beautiful specimens alter their colour mix as they mature from its initial opening lustre. However, that’s not a problem, but a blessing in disguise—what the aging bloom of Calla 'Captain Murano' loses in flashy boldness, it gains in the richness of the burgundy-infused orange colouring, veined with yellow streaks, the older bloom adopts. The tall spadix covered in tiny flowers picks up the lighter shades of orange that appear on the modified coloured leaf that curls itself into a trumpet-like shape that is mistaken for the lily’s flower. Enjoy the sturdy Zantedeschia 'Captain Murano' in containers, or plant them in mixed borders to provide a strong accent.
Gracy's gardening tip
"Some Calla varieties (like 'Captain Murano') come with an attractive white dotted foliage, giving them even more flair!"
