Caladium
'White Christmas'
angel wings
You’ll be dreaming of a few Caladium 'White Christmas' bulbs in your stocking when you see the eye-catching foliage of this spectacular variety! Bold and defined dark green veining make the leaves of this tropical wonder look dazzlingly white, just like a sprinkling of snow on Christmas day. It’s clear how they earned their name of Angel Wings, when you see those elegant silvery leaves bring their icy cool look to a shady spot in the garden!
These tropical treats require consistently warm temperatures to come out of dormancy, so your bulb should be potted up in spring, and kept indoors for a few weeks to allow the ideal conditions for growth. But, good things come to those who wait—and once that first leaf pops up, it will quickly be followed by many more! Gardeners are open surprised to learn this popular foliage plant is not evergreen—in fact it’s a deciduous bulb and the leaves will naturally die back in autumn. Lift the bulb to keep it well protected from any cold temperatures, and it can be replanted again in spring—truly the gift that keeps on giving!
