Description
If muted or pastel tones are your cup of tea, this neat and compact white-flowered butterfly bush, Buddleja 'Little White', is a fantastic, low-maintenance option! If you love buddlejas but don’t have the space for the real beast of a shrub in your borders, then this prolific little number will be just the ticket. It’s just the same but in miniature, growing to just 80cm tall once mature. Despite its compact habit, Buddleja 'Little White' managed to be very bushy and produces a fantastic display of nectar-rich, slightly honey scented flowers through summer every year. Bees and butterflies can’t resist it, you will see butterflies busy on this plant every day when in bloom.
If you have a small garden, gap in a border or a large patio container and want a low-maintenance flowering plant which will virtually look after itself, Buddleja 'Little White' will happily fill the role. Once it’s settled in, it will tolerate heat, drought, poor soil and also whatever winter has in store. It prefers a sunny spot and doesn’t mind about soil type. All that’s required is regular watering in the first year, and potting up to grow on for a few months before planting out if your site or soil is particularly challenging, occasional deadheading in summer to prolong flowering, then prune back by a third in autumn. For the rest of the time, just leave Buddleja 'Little White' to its own devices and it’ll take care of itself.

Useful information
-
Soak your Buddleja 'Little White' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Butterfly bush" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
