Description
Your heart will flutter just as much as all those beautiful butterflies you’ll spot embellishing this gorgeous plant. What’s most notable about Buddleja 'Little Lila' is its size. You don’t need a large space for this dwarf butterfly bush, establishing t a mature heigh of around 80cm it’s the perfect solution for a space which is more limited or even for growing in containers. It’s a hardy, resilient little shrub with pretty, plump, lilac-purple conical flowers are scented with a delicate honey fragrance. If you don’t have a lot of time to spend tending to the garden, an extremely low maintenance shrub like Buddleja 'Little Lila' is the answer. It’s not fussy about soil type and is pretty drought tolerant once it’s settled in.
In the garden, Buddleja 'Little Lila' thrives is an open, sunny location. Pot on in a multi-purpose, peat free compost, watering well initially to give it the best start in areas with poor soils, then transfer it into the garden after a few months once it’s established a stronger roots system. If you have good, crumbly soil and a free space ready for it, you can plant Buddleja 'Little Lila' straight into the border. This little shrub works well in borders among perennials such as hardy geraniums, salvias and helenium. If you’re sticking to shrubs, try pairing it with one of our compact hydrangea varieties or the Buddleja 'Butterfly Candy Little Pink'.
