Choose a sturdy pot with drainage holes, allowing around 3cm between the bulb and the pot’s edge.
'Red Amazone'
syn. Hippeastrum 'Red Amazone'
Amaryllis 'Red Amazone' is the botanical equivalent of a dramatic entrance—exotic, eye-catching, and impossible to ignore. With its slender, elegantly pointed petals drenched in vibrant red, this variety brings a touch of tropical flair to even the greyest winter windowsill. At the heart of each bloom, the red deepens to a sultry, dark crimson, drawing the eye inward to where even the stamens keep to the theme, blazing red from tip to base. Amaryllis 'Red Amazone' is a flower that knows exactly how to hold a gaze.
Despite its wild looks, Amaryllis 'Red Amazone' is surprisingly easy to grow and rewards even the most relaxed of gardeners with a show that’s nothing short of theatrical. Just give it a sunny spot indoors, water sparingly until growth begins, and then sit back and enjoy the show. Whether you’re after a bold festive display or just need a splash of heat during the colder months, Amaryllis 'Red Amazone' delivers with flair. For lovers of the dramatic and the exotic, it’s the perfect winter pick-me-up—fiery, elegant, and unapologetically fabulous.

Use peat-free multipurpose compost and position the bulb with its pointed end upwards. Leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the compost.
Place the pot indoors in a warm, bright position away from direct heat. Turn it regularly as the stem grows to keep it straight.
Water lightly after planting, then sparingly until growth appears. Increase watering as the plant develops, keeping the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, but retain the flower stalk until it yellows. Continue watering and feeding while the leaves remain green to replenish the bulb.
