Choose a sturdy pot with drainage holes, allowing around 3cm between the bulb and the pot’s edge.
'Polar Belle'
syn. Hippeastrum 'Polar Belle'
Amaryllis 'Polar Belle' is an indoor bulb with a wonderfully serene presence, producing large double flowers in luminous white with the softest hint of blush along the petal edges. The layered blooms have a full, open form, with fresh green shading at the throat that adds coolness and depth to all that winter white. Held on strong, upright stems above glossy strap-shaped foliage, Amaryllis 'Polar Belle' brings calm elegance to windowsills, sideboards and bright rooms when the garden outside is taking its seasonal pause. Refined but not at all chilly, Hippeastrum 'Polar Belle' has the quiet glamour of candlelight on snow.
Plant Amaryllis 'Polar Belle' in a well-drained pot, leaving the upper part of the bulb exposed, and place it somewhere bright and warm. Water lightly at first, then more regularly once growth begins, taking care not to leave the bulb sitting in wet compost. Its pale flowers look especially beautiful in simple ceramic containers, where the green centres and delicate pink touches can be properly appreciated. Long-lasting and easy to grow, Amaryllis 'Polar Belle' is ideal for festive displays, thoughtful gifting or adding a little graceful drama indoors. Fresh, poised and quietly luxurious, Hippeastrum 'Polar Belle' is winter flowering at its most elegant.

Use peat-free multipurpose compost and position the bulb with its pointed end upwards. Leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the compost.
Place the pot indoors in a warm, bright position away from direct heat. Turn it regularly as the stem grows to keep it straight.
Water lightly after planting, then sparingly until growth appears. Increase watering as the plant develops, keeping the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, but retain the flower stalk until it yellows. Continue watering and feeding while the leaves remain green to replenish the bulb.
