Choose a sturdy pot with drainage holes, allowing around 3cm between the bulb and the pot’s edge.
'Evergreen'
syn. Hippeastrum 'Evergeen'
The award-winning Hippeastrum 'Evergreen' offers an unseasonably fresh, zesty energy with its creamy-green winter flowers. Particularly fine and delicate, these spidery blooms have apple-green throats merging into soft, pale, slender petals, and exceptionally long, curved stamens. The overall effect is both exotic and elegant, and perfect for adding stylish floral accents to the home during the darkest days of winter.
Amaryllis (or to be botanically accurate, Hippeastrum) is a tender bulb usually grown as a houseplant in frost-prone climates such as the UK. It is a magnificently easy plant to grow—the huge flowers offering a generous payback for very little effort. Simply pot your Amaryllis 'Evergreen' bulb in a gritty mix with the top third of the bulb kept above the surface. Water freely when in growth and feed fortnightly with a liquid feed. Once the leaves die back, cease watering, and allow bulbs to enter a dry dormancy until mid to late autumn (when the whole thing starts again!).

Use peat-free multipurpose compost and position the bulb with its pointed end upwards. Leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the compost.
Place the pot indoors in a warm, bright position away from direct heat. Turn it regularly as the stem grows to keep it straight.
Water lightly after planting, then sparingly until growth appears. Increase watering as the plant develops, keeping the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, but retain the flower stalk until it yellows. Continue watering and feeding while the leaves remain green to replenish the bulb.
