Choose a sturdy pot with drainage holes, allowing around 3cm between the bulb and the pot’s edge.
'Amarossi'
syn. Hippeastrum 'Amarossi'
Amaryllis 'Amarossi' is a dramatic indoor bulb with the kind of deep red flowers that make a room look instantly more dressed for the occasion. Its large, trumpet-shaped blooms open in a rich, velvety crimson, with softly ruffled petals and a darker throat that adds depth rather than fuss. The pale stamens stand out beautifully against all that saturated colour, giving Amaryllis 'Amarossi' a classic festive elegance without feeling predictable. Tall, sturdy stems hold the blooms proudly above fresh green, strap-like foliage, making Hippeastrum 'Amarossi' a superb choice for windowsills, sideboards and anywhere that could use a little winter theatre.
Plant Amaryllis 'Amarossi' in a well-drained pot, leaving the upper part of the bulb visible, and place it somewhere bright and warm to encourage strong growth. Water sparingly at first, then more regularly once the flower stem is developing, taking care not to leave the bulb sitting in wet compost. Its bold red flowers look wonderful in simple containers, where the colour can take centre stage with no need for unnecessary decoration. Long-lasting, striking and pleasingly easy to grow, Hippeastrum 'Amarossi' is perfect for gardeners who like their indoor flowers confident, sumptuous and just a little bit grand.

Use peat-free multipurpose compost and position the bulb with its pointed end upwards. Leave the neck and upper third of the bulb above the compost.
Place the pot indoors in a warm, bright position away from direct heat. Turn it regularly as the stem grows to keep it straight.
Water lightly after planting, then sparingly until growth appears. Increase watering as the plant develops, keeping the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged.
Remove faded flowers, but retain the flower stalk until it yellows. Continue watering and feeding while the leaves remain green to replenish the bulb.
