Description

This compact and low maintenance Peruvian lily introduces warm, exotic pockets of colour around the garden – every planting scheme should include some orange, not only is it summery and stands out with a glow, but it creates a contrast which enhances blue and purple-flowering plants around it. Despite its exotic looks, Alstroemeria 'Lisa' is an easy to grow and reliable hardy perennial. It tolerates summer heat and also winter cold in most areas, the compact yet prolific nature of this plant means that it produces a big splash of colour whilst remaining neat and petite. Enjoy this Peruvian lily in patio containers where the intricate flowers can be admired up close, or at the front of borders. Although the stems of Alstroemeria 'Lisa' are short, they do make impressive cut flowers and look lovely in a little vase!

Soak the Alstroemeria 'Lisa' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting
Plant your "Dwarf Peruvian lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed. Some varieties are a length of root which should be planted lengthways and shallowly (1-2cm deep).
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
