Description
Take a gander at the compact crowd-pleaser that is the Colorita® Alstroemeria series, a floral brigade so reliably self-supporting that stakes are as unnecessary as a winter coat in August. These colorful charmers are more than happy to grace your containers with their neatly tailored growth habits. Alstroemeria 'Colorita Mix' will grow happily in full sun to partial shade, but bear in mind that the shadier the spot, the fewer flowers will appear. The sunnier the better! Regular deadheading your dwarf Peruvian lilies will promote more flowers to form, but interestingly, rather than snipping off the flowerhead, cutting the whole stem at the base is recommended as this will trigger the growth of new stems for a full, bushy plant.
Colorita® alstroemerias are clump forming perennials which grow back every year, the size of the clumps gradually increases each year, producing a succession of flowers every summer. If you like growing your own cut flowers, you’ll find these have a good stem length and impressive vase life—they’ll add plenty of glamour to summer bouquets! Peruvian lilies enjoy a sunny spot with well-drained soil. The dwarf varieties in the Alstroemeria 'Colorita Mix' are easy to grow and typically hardy to around -5°C, so give these plants a sheltered spot where they will be protected from the worst of the winter weather.

Useful information
-
Soak your Alstroemeria 'Colorita Mix' roots in water for 3-6 hours prior to planting.
Plant your "Dwarf Peruvian lily" bare roots into temporary pots with a multipurpose compost in spring and grow-on in a sheltered spot outdoors.
Choose a pot which comfortably fits the bare roots. Some have a noticeable crown which should be just below the soil surface with any top growth exposed.
Plant out into borders or permanent containers in late spring or early summer once in full growth. Choose a position in sun or shade depending on the variety.
