The added bonus of fringed large-glowering gladioli is that they have the same height (anything up 1.8 meters) and the same huge flowers of other large-flowering glads, but they also have a softer and fancier look, brought about by their frilly, ruffled or fringed look. This makes their very long flower spires less predictable, and can change the feel of your garden beds and cut flower arrangements when they bloom from the middle of summer through till the first frosts. Like all Gladiolus bulbs, fringed glads like sun; a rich soil that's well drained; and they may need stalking to support them when in bloom. If you’re not into frills and flounces, stick with the traditional large-flowering varieties.
