Description
Not all alliums are tall and stately - growing to around 15cm, this Allium oreophilum mini marvel is a fantastic little variety which looks great planted at the front of borders, rockeries or in pots. But its low height doesn’t mean it compromises on colour and showiness at all! Allium oreophilum (or 'Ostrowskianum'), also known as Mountain Lover, is a bright and bold alpine gem of a plant, with vibrant pink blooms formed in open rounded clusters that look truly fantastic and provide excellent interest to the garden between late spring and early summer, so it’s well-worth adding to your collection.
This little beauty, Allium oreophilum ('Ostrowskianum') is very easy to grow and pretty self-sufficient as far as plants go. All you need to do is plant the bulbs in autumn and wait for a great display the following year, which will then return annually, naturalising gradually over the years to form bigger and better clumps of colour each time.
