Half Hardy, may need
winter protection

Dozens of tiny lavender blue trumpets on short spikes gather into a large ball of colour in the Triteleia laxa 'Corrina' - commonly known as the Triplet Lily. These balls rest above the level of your average flower garden varieties, creating almost a cosmos effect of planets above the earth. Each tiny trumpet in this garden orchestra is finely detailed and delicate, it’s six lavender petals creating dainty beauty around the centre from which the lavender stamens extend. The collective ball can reach 20 cm wide (8 inch) so they make a bold showing above their long-leaved curving green foliage.

The foliage of Triteleia laxa 'Corrina' lasts all year while the flowers bloom from the middle of summer till well into October.

  • Triteleiabulbs are hardy down to -5C, so can be planted direct outside in spring, butmay require winter protection
  • Choose a spot in full sun, and grow in light, sandy, fertile soil. If growing in containers, you can add sand or grit to potting compost
  • Plant the bulbs 8-10cm deep, with the pointed side facing upwards
  • Space the bulbs about 10-15cm apart
  • Water-in after planting and keep hydrated while in growth
  • To overwinter the bulbs in colder areas, lift after flowering and allow to dry off in a warm place for a few days, before trimming off any remaining foliage. Then store in a cool, dark, but frost-free place before replanting the following spring
  • In mild areas with well-drained soil that does not become waterlogged in the winter, they can be left in the ground with a thick mulch to protect them from frosts
