Description

There’s nothing big and bold about Lily 'Martagon'. This group of Eurasian lilies flourish all over Europe, including in the Alps. What they lack in size is made up for with an abundant display of beautiful downward-facing blooms that look like paper lanterns hanging from curving stems which lift them off the strong central spike. You can expect to see anything up to 20 of these delicate blooms on one stem from midsummer onwards. The reddish purple petals of these tiny 'Martagon' lilies curl back so far in their recurving action that they almost hide their flower’s funnel base. This creates a turban-like impression that has earned them the name of Turk’s Cap Lilies.

Gracy says:
"Martagon lilies are among my favourites. Their flowers will last for a good period of time in the garden, in a container, or cut in a vase!"
