Description
Colchicum 'Giant' adds the size factor to the strange but alluring bare beauty of the autumn-flowering colchicum, which blooms without the backing of foliage which appears in spring and dies off during summer. Colchicum 'Giant' is the tallest of these plants so the impact of this unclothed display is strengthened. Its bright, cup-shaped flowers open to the autumn sun, revealing pinkish lavender brightened with six bright orange stamens emerging from a small white centre.
Colchicum 'Giant' bulbs produce anything from 5 to 10 flower-bearing stems per bulb. They are easy to grow and ideal for planting in containers to give for autumn patio a last blaze of colour before the winter.
