Description
Bright yellow Foxtail Lilies are not a common sight in summer gardens — but they should be! Growing to 100-150 cm tall, Eremurus 'Tap Dance' makes the perfect flowering plant for the back of borders. Its sunny, butter-yellow flower spikes open in early summer, from the bottom upwards, in a wave of subtle colour changes that should not be missed. The long-lasting spikes are loaded with star-shaped florets, creating a fluffy, bottlebrush effect. They often bend as they grow, looking even more like real foxes' tails! Even better, they also make wonderful cut flowers for indoor arrangements!
Eremurus 'Tap Dance' need winter cold in order to induce flowering the following summer, but they appreciate good winter drainage, and ideally some mulch to give roots added of frost protection. During the growing season they like plenty of sunlight and warmth. Over the years, the plants will grow into large, prolific clumps.
