Description
Bluebells are a firm favourite in any English garden, and this unusual, lacy variety Hyacinthoides mauritanica, is a great one for the collection. Unlike some other hybrid bluebells, this dwarf, gentle variety is certainly no thug. The soft, powder-blue blooms sit on graceful stems like a sprinkling of fairy dust, gradually naturalising over the years and spreading their magic to create lovely, sparkly drifts of colour. This special dwarf bluebell is from Morocco but is fully hardy in the UK climate. Where our native English bluebells like a woodland setting, Hyacinthoides mauritanica do well in full sun and even quite like an open, stony or alpine setting, such as a rockery or gravel garden. Otherwise, plant them in drifts in borders or patio containers and enjoy watching these petite beauties pop up to grace your garden with finesse, magic and charm every spring.
